Rubber bands can be stretched flexibly around packaged goods. However such work can often only be carried out with two workers. As a disposable item, they are far too expensive and usually they have already been removed before the pallets are stretched for external transport. Rubber bands are also often a source of workplace accidents as they can whip back or rip when stretched excessively.

Over time, they become increasingly porous, thus increasing the danger of them ripping. Rubber bands are primarily used for internal transport operations. sanstrap® stretchbands are a simpler, safer and cheaper alternative here.
